CLEAR DIY Frequently Asked Questions

What is the CLEAR Do It Yourself (DIY) service?

CLEAR provides direct system access to growers who prefer to trade without the assistance of a broker. Previously, growers wishing to trade and sell their grain via CLEAR have had to do so through an advisor or broker, CLEAR DIY will enable the growers to confirm tickets, place their grain on offer and/or accept buyer bids for their grain.

Why is CLEAR introducing a DIY service?

CLEAR has recognised and acknowledged that there are a number of growers who want to trade their own grain independently and take full control of their asset. CLEAR is ultimately looking to expand the volume of grain on the system and create greater liquidity, resulting in a more transparent market.

Can any grower adopt the DIY service option?

CLEAR does not provide market advisory assistance to growers under the DIY model, instead it is purely a transactional option for growers looking to best market their grain on their own behalf. Growers seeking broker/advisor assistance are advised to view the list of CLEAR registered brokers. CLEAR provides training support for help using the CLEAR system.

Can current broker clients use DIY?

CLEAR recognises that some growers prefer the involvement of advisors or brokers, that facility is still in place and CLEAR will continue to provide that option. CLEAR’s DIY initiative provides significant opportunities for astute brokers enabling greater access to grain supply, improved efficiency gains and scale.

Does CLEAR charge growers a fee to use the DIY service?

No. Similarly, CLEAR will not charge advisor or broker clients to transact under the brokerage company umbrella.

When will DIY be implemented?

The CLEAR DIY service will be available for growers early October 2009.

How can I apply for the DIY service?

Growers can now register online. CLEAR will provide you with account details and instructions on how to access the CLEAR Grain Exchange in October.
